Happy Easter Weekend! USD 271 schools will not be in session on Friday or Monday. Thank you to our special guest, the Easter Bunny, for sharing waves to everyone who came for lunch today! Our cooks rocked 3 meals in one day to assist families for this 4 day weekend! #TigerPride271

Lunch Menu Wow, the week is half way done! Wednesday 4-8, lunch will be Hot ham and cheese pocket, baked beans, veggie bag, fruit, milk. Next day breakfast will be Frudel, juice, milk.

Tomorrow will be a sunny and warm day, so let’s find a yummy lunch to go with the day! Tuesday 4-7 Lunch will be Spaghetti, bread stick, salad bowl, fruit cup and milk. Next day breakfast is Pop tart, juice, and milk. Come share those wonderful smiles with teachers and staff!

Food Service Update- As we plan ahead for the week of April 6-10 and April 13. When you pick up lunch/breakfast on Thursday, 4/9, you will also receive lunch for 4/10. We will not serve lunch on Monday, 4/13. We are gifting our food service employees a 3 day weekend.

Parents/Guardians of K-2 students: You will need to drop off the USD 271 owned IPads so you we can update Seesaw and add the Zoom app. This has to be completed onsite. The Ipads can be dropped off today from 2-3pm. Please pull into the circle drive and we will come to you. We need the IPads today if you want to be ready for Monday! We had a request for pizza, and after much thought and a few trials, I think we have come up with something possibly better! No fooling!! Our USD 271 posts are often directed toward our elementary students. We have found a resource we can share with our middle and high school students. Dr. Tim Elmore is an author and speaker. He is an expert on Generation Y and Generation Z. Tonight we are sharing an activity called Trains and Tracks (Structure). We hope you can engage your teen in this chat. Think about a train moving along tracks. It would be easy to assume the tracks prevent the train from moving freely, but it’s just the opposite. The tracks give the train focus and direction. A train without tracks is just a disaster waiting to happen. You are just like this train. If you want to move forward you’ll need structures and systems to keep you on track and help you make progress. (Thank you Dr. Elmore and staff.)

To Staff, Students and Parents 3-28-2020 Governor Kelly today issued a stay at home order for the State of Kansas from Monday March 30th until April 19th. With the guidance from State Board of Education, KSDE, KASB and KNEA this order does not affect the current operations that the School District is currently doing. The reason is that the School District is listed as an essential service. The staff will continue to provide lunches, clean the school buildings and continue the planning for our continuous learning. We will adhere to the guidelines of less than 10 people at least 6 feet apart. This week our Continuous Learning Plan will be completed and approved by the Board of Education. We will submit a waiver to the Kansas State Board of Education. Teachers will be in contact with all students about details of their continuous learning. The information for each student’s continuous learning will be released each Monday starting April 6th and continue through May 15th. It is important that everyone support the continuous learning process so each student will be successful this year and be ready to be successful next year.
